At the changes of the seasons, it is a great time to take stock of your spiritual practices. For me, that means some time spent in quiet reflection on what I have been moved to do, what I actually did, and yes, what I know but sometimes forget about.
I have been compelled to do things that involved a lot of thought, concentration and idea sharing with others. I found myself having intense conversations with others about the changing landscape of this world from a spiritual and shamanic perspective. We talked about the Ancestral shamans as keepers of gateways to the flow of information between our world and the other worlds. We talked about the effect and/or need of "constructs" and their effect on the health of this world and the world of the Spirits. I became more aware of dangerous entities and spiritual practices that create chaos. I talked and listened to ideas about the astral plane, healing tools, helpful spirits, Ancestral connections and meditation.
I found that what I did actually do came from a place inside me that had just been too busy before to express itself fully. Being off of work for a while, I started writing, painting, and dreaming again. The many conversations that I had and the ideas that were exchanged slowly began to influence my spiritual sessions with my clients. I was even more aware of the love of the Creator, the ancestors and good spirits that surround all of us and the need to make strong connections with them and with the other worlds. I became better at praying for guidance and searching for places around or within a person where negativity was living, was being created, or was being directed to them. I also discovered more ways to help people let go of core issues in their lives. I searched for the balance that is the foundation of healing. And I did the same for myself. I created stronger connections with my own good spirits, shamanic helpers and protectors by speaking with them everyday. But most importantly, I did healing sessions on myself. It became second nature. And then I remembered what I had always known but had forgotten.
I had forgotten to remember and live with the knowledge that even though the rituals we do for the holidays or for healing or prosperity or even love are important, the most important rituals we do are those that we do every day for ourselves and for and with our community. It is not a chore to be called by the Spirits but a great blessing. Questions may not be answered as quickly as we like, but answers will come any way and in many ways. From the musings of my mind, the voices of the Ancestors and good Spirits and the hearts of my clients and friends, I just keep growing and discovering.
I remembered that the connections we form, whether in this world with all of our earthly connections or with the world of the spirits, create the space where our soul finds a home. Maintaining love and trust in this world and the other worlds and growing together are what makes the worlds turn in balance, allows healing and makes our life worth living.
